In a proactive move to address the growing concerns of substance abuse in the Anumle Electoral Area,
renowned entertainer Michael Ashong, known by his stage name MIC YORNY, has embarked on a
mission to educate and empower the residents of Christian Village, Kissehman, Anumle, College, and
Golf Hills.
Having grown up in the neighboring town of Alorgboshi and residing in the Anumle Electoral Area for
over a decade, MIC YORNY has taken it upon himself to address the issue of substance abuse,
particularly among the youth.
His concern is deeply rooted in the alarming transformation of Christian Village into a hotspot for
marijuana and other drug use, where individuals openly indulge in these substances, often in front of
impressionable children. The sad consequence is that even underage children are being drawn into this
harmful habit due to their exposure.
MIC YORNY is equally troubled by the lack of action from adults and community leaders, who have
allowed such destructive behavior to persist without consequences. This indifference to the drug-
related activities within the communities has only exacerbated the issue.
In his commitment to combat this issue, MIC YORNY has released a captivating reggae tune to
spearhead his campaign. Moreover, he has been actively delivering educational lectures in local schools
and has partnered with organizations, including the Fafali Organization in the area, to further amplify
the scope of his project.
Substance abuse exacts a heavy toll on families, affecting them on various fronts, including emotionally,
psychologically, financially, and socially. The preoccupation of a parent with substance abuse can result
in neglect or abuse, while the use of drugs and alcohol often leads to financial difficulties, poverty, and
even bankruptcy.
Compounding the problem, the members of the Anumle Electoral Area already contend with issues such
as unemployment, low income, educational challenges, housing instability, malnutrition, and living in
polluted and noisy environments, all of which increase the risk of various diseases.
Given these pressing concerns, addressing drug abuse is of paramount importance for MIC YORNY, as he
seeks to uplift his community from its multifaceted challenges. His efforts in tackling this issue are both
commendable and timely.
