The Fafali Organization is set to launch an essential literacy project within the Anumle Cluster of Schools,
with a special focus on the Aggrey Basic School. This project, long in the making, is now primed for
action thanks to the availability of dedicated volunteers and essential resources.
Heading the literacy classes are Lilly Bess and Jorin Gerloff, two passionate educators hailing from
Germany. Their participation in this initiative comes as a result of the collaboration between the Fafali
Organization and AFS Intercultural Exchange Programs (IEP) Ghana. Lilly and Jorin have wholeheartedly
embraced the literacy project, and they are already hard at work assessing and organizing the students,
tailoring their approach to cater to individual needs. Additionally, they are preparing the classrooms at
Aggrey Basic School for the educational journey ahead.
In the Anumle Electoral Area, where Fafali serves, a concerning 70% of children face challenges when it
comes to reading. A substantial portion of these children falls below the average reading level, and most
of them attend schools within the Anumle Cluster of Schools. This glaring reality underscores the urgent
need for the literacy project that Fafali Organization is embarking upon.
The primary objective of the Fafali Organization is to empower these young learners not only to read but
to comprehend what they read. The project’s focus extends to strengthening the fundamentals of
literacy, including mastering the ABCs, sound recognition, word and letter comprehension, and the
ability to read and comprehend sentences.
While the task at hand is significant, the Fafali Organization is committed to ensuring that the project
delivers high-quality results. To achieve this, they will be working with a select group of 10 children on a
quarterly basis.
We commend the Fafali Organization for their commendable work in the Anumle Electoral Area and for
the positive impact they bring to the entire community.
